Frequently Asked Questions

Counselling provides a confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. It is provided by a qualified counsellor and can help you develop a better understanding of yourself. It is not about giving advice or direction.

Yes, counselling is a confidential space, but it’s important that you know there are limits to this. If I think you or someone else is at immediate risk of harm, then I may have to speak with a third party. Where possible I will speak with you first.

The sessions are 50 minutes long and cost £50, to be paid on the day of the session by bank transfer.

I recommend having weekly sessions to get the most benefit out of them. We could look at reducing the frequency as we near the end of our time together.

I offer open ended counselling, but I’d recommend having at least 6 sessions initially and we can review and go from there.

If you need to cancel a session, I require at least 48 hours notice. Please email, text or leave a voicemail and I will confirm that I have received the communication from you. Any cancellations made within 48 hours of the session will be charged at 50% of the session cost. If you miss a session without cancelling, you will be charged the full session cost.

I work using an integrative approach to counselling. This means I use many theories to inform my practice with you. These theories include, but are not limited to, Psychodynamic, Person-Centred approach, Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Attachment theory.

No, I only work with adults aged 18+

No, I work with individuals and it is important that you are able to share openly and honestly, something we can not always do when surrounded by others, particularly those close to us. Unfortunately there is no space for another person to wait in the building whilst you have your session.

There is plenty of free parking in Newport Pagnell. I recommend parking in Lovat Hall car park, 47 silver street, MK16 0EQ which is just around the corner from the therapy room. If there are no spaces, there are other free car parks in town; MK16 8HJ, MK16 0AG and MK16 8EU.

I have a Level 4 CPCAB Diploma in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling and am currently studying for a Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (2022-2023). I also hold Levels 1, 2 and 3 CPCAB Certificates in Counselling Skills and Studies.

I have volunteered with Carers MK since 2021 as a counsellor, supporting unpaid carers with various issues including, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, bereavement, shame, low self-worth, caring for SEN children, AD(H)D, trauma, sexual abuse and more.

My volunteering role has now changed, and I hold initial sessions with carers and pass them over to a volunteer counsellor.

I am committed to continuing my personal and professional development, whether that is via a training workshop, course, book or another form of development.

The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change
